1st Lieutenant William Whiteford, Company B, 50th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, CSA. Company B was enlisted from Ware County, Georgia. He died May 11, 1863 and is buried in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond Virginia.

Private Thomas Crozier, 56th Georgia Infantry Regiment, Army of Tennessee. Enlisted May 10, 1862, wounded at the Battle of Jonesboro, Georgia (Atlanta Campaign) August 31, 1864. He stayed home recovering from his wound the remainder of the war.

The USS Cairo, a Federal gunboat, employed in the capture of Vicksburg and securing the Mississippi River for Union control. The Cairo is the first warship sunk by a torpedo (modern-day mine). The blast tore a hole in the port bow. The gunboat is on display at Vicksburg National Military Park.

Early war soldier from the American Civil War or War between the States. The soldier is wearing a US beltplate but he is probably a Confederate. It was common for Confederates to use Federal items due to shortages of their own supplies. Note the rope being used as a canteen strap instead of leather.

William Joshua Bush, born in Georgia July 10, 1845, died November 11, 1952 at 107 years old, Georgia's last living Confederate veteran. Because of his longevity he became known as General Bush, an honorary title.
